Kadikalesi is located on the tumulus that dominating Anaia port which was coast residential antique and medieval time. With this position, fortress was an important trade route at one point had to supervise the Samos Strait. So Kadıkalesi tumulus includes Byzantine and Ottoman structures of Pre-Protohistoric period.Tumulus is nearly 23 m. height and 250 m. width.Findings covered during the excavations, show this place's past depend 5000 years before. Anaia was an important target of Helen colonization that dates from beginning b.c. 1050 . In Pelopennessos wars, its' role can not be underestimated in the middle of b.c 5th. century.Tomb stones captured in Hellenistic era, show the presence of every Hera temple in Anaia in Rome time.Source materials show Anaia as a bishopric center after acceptance of Christianity formally.Byzantine transfer this fortress and port to Genoese after signing agreement in 1261. Anaia conquered in the early of 1300 by Turks. It belongs to Aydınogulları in 14th century, but in 15 th century it was conquered by Ottoman.
